The Guilt Trip

Unaccompanied Minors

In this holiday delight for the whole familly, Spencer and Katherine Davenport are planning to spend Christmas break with their father.  Unfortunately, when a massive blizzard cancels all flights, Spencer and Katherine are taken to the Unaccompanied Minors area, where they meet Timothy "Beef" Wellington, Grace Conrad, Charlie Goldfinch, and Donna Malone.

The kids become fast friends, but when they cause mischief at the airport, the greedy manager, Oliver Porter, tries to keep them in solitary confinement while Katherine is sent to the lodge nearby.  But Spencer and his friends cannot remain caged, and the five unaccompanied minors manage to sneak out of the airport together (and outsmarting Porter along the way), determined to give Katherine the best Christmas ever.

Tuesdays with Morrie

Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo

Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

In this delightful third installment of the Diary of A Wimpy Kid tween book series by Jeff Kinney, School is out for the summer.  Middle school student Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) looks forward to playing video games and winning the heart of his crush over summer break, but his parents have something else in store for him.  But Greg doesn't want to go along with his dad's program, so he lands a "job" at the country club to impress the girl of his dreams.  He also hires his annoying older brother Rodrick's band Loded Diper to play at his crush's sister's birthday party and goes on a wild ride with his best friend Rowley at the amusement park.  Can Greg get through his summer vacation without embarrassing himself in front of his peers for a change?  In theaters August 3rd, 2012.

Mean Girls

Brought up by her zoologist parents on the African savanna, down-to-earth teenager Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) faces the most difficult challenge of all: high school.  As she tries to find her place among her peers, Cady clashes with the fashionable Plastics clique, headed by queen bee Regina George (Rachel McAdams).  She allows herself to join the Plastics so that she can spy on the popular kids, but before long, she starts to behave as badly as they do.  Matters really start to heat up when Cady falls for Regina's ex-boyfriend.  The queen bee is hurt to the core and devises a scheme to destroy Cady's social future.

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift

This fourth installment of the "Ice Age" films finds Sid, Ellie, Manny, Scrat and Diego frozen solid and accidentally defrosted in present day!  Starring the voice talents of Queen Latifah as Eliie and Ray Romano as Manny.  Coming to theaters Friday, July 13th, 2012 from 20th Century Fox Films.

The Amazing Spider Man

The Swan Princess

James Cameron directed this epic drama that received eleven Academy Awards.  Based on true events, two social opposites (Leonardo diCaprio and Kate Winslet) meet and fall in love on an ill-fated luxury cruise liner. 

Monster

On December 22, a drugstore in Harlem, New York, was robbed.  During the robbery, the owner of the drugstore, Alguinaldo Nesbitt, was brutally murdered.  Steve Harmon, a 16-year-old African American high school student, is now on trial for being an accomplice for the incident.   Steve records his experiences in jail in diary form and the court trial as a film, hoping to come to terms with his identity as an American citizen.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982)

Cameron Crowe went undercover as a journalist at a California high school, where the students gave him their opinion on their favorite subjects: sex, drugs, and rock music.  First there's Brad Hamilton, the big man on campus who appears to have everything made.  His 15 year old sister Stacy, an innocent high school freshman, gets plenty of bad advice from the sexually outspoken senior Linda on how to lose her virginity.  Finally, the stoner Jeff Spicolli, who aspires of becoming a famous surfer, clashes with his firm history teacher Mr. Hand, who is convinced that everyone is on dope.  Directed by Amy Heckerling.  Starring Jennifer Jason Leigh (Stacy), Sean Penn (Jeff), Phoebe Cates (Linda), and Judge Reinhold (Brad).

Scott Pilgrim vs the World

This visually dazzling motion picture focuses on Scott Pilgrim, a 23-year-old slacker and bass guitarist from Toronto.  Scott sees his world in a new light when he falls head over heels in love with a new girl named Ramona Flowers.  At first it appears as if Scott has finally met the beautiful girl of his dreams, but he learns that in order to win her love, he has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends, who are coming to destroy him once and for all!

The Music Man

This year, our school put on a class production of Meredith Wilson's 1957 musical "The Music Man". Fast-talking salesman Harold Hill cons the citizens of River City, Iowa, into buying band instruments and uniforms for a music club he vows to organize. However, his plans so skip town with the money are foiled when he falls for Marian Paroo, the sharp-eyed town librarian.  Marian Paroo knows a con man when she sees one.  By curtain call, Marian transforms Harold from a conman to a respectable citizen. Songs include "You Got Trouble", "Gary Indiana", "76 Trombones", "Till There Was You", "Iowa Stubborn" and "Goodnight My Someone".

John Tucker Must Die Review

"John Tucker Must Die" (2006) is a romantic comedy about a group of teenage girls who go to hilarious lengths to get even with their manipulative ex-boyfriend.  In the movie, Kate Johnson is a normal girl who lives with her mother, who has been through a series of bad relationships.  She dubs each of her mother's boyfriends "Skip" because they skip the relationship.  Kate gets a job as a waitress, and on the job, she spots basketball star John Tucker on dates with three young women.  There's Carrie, a chronic over-achiever; Heather, an aggressive and sassy cheerleader; and Beth, a vegan activist.

 The next day, the three girls discover that John has been stringing them along.  They recruit Kate in their conspiracy to publicly humiliate him.  Kate joins the cheer leading squad, and John immediately falls for her.  In the meantime, Kate befriends John's brother Scott, aka "The Other Tucker".  John and Kate go on some dates together, but soon Kate's behavior starts to change.

One time, Kate seduces John Tucker online and tricks him into wearing thongs.  John takes advantage of the situation by starting a fashion trend.  In the end, at John's birthday party, there's a big cake fight.  Kate becomes John's one and only girlfriend and is friends with Heather, Beth and Carrie.  "John Tucker Must Die" is rated PG-13 for sensuality, coarse language, and suggestive dialogue.  Stars Ashanti, Brittany Snow, Arielle Kebbel, Sophia Bush, Penn Bagdley, Jesse Metcalfe, and Jenny McCarthy.  Directed by Betty Thomas.

A Holiday to Remember

This Christmas, I received a Swan Princess CD, a sports bra, a Spice Girls book, a Jewel Kingdom book, a polyester dog from Victoria's secret, a Disney Princess activity book, orange ginger cologne, M&M's, a Cinderella 3 book, kitty slippers, new lounge wear, an on-the-go lap desk, and a special bracelet.  I even wore my new coat, cap and gloves to Christmas mass.  On Christmas day, we went to celebrate at the hospital.  We had lunch with Grandmother, Uncle Tom, Uncle Joe, Uncle Rob, Uncle Todd, and Aunt Kelly.  Then we drove to Omaha to celebrate with my mother's side of the family.

On New Year's, we went to the hospital and brought Grandmother a bottle of raspberry champagne.  After mass, we ate out at Rancho Grande.  There I ordered two cheese quesadillas.  Also, I accompanied my older sister Megan and her friends to Subway.  Since I had Pizza Ranch for supper, Meg got me a Macadamian nut cookie.  Meg's friends say I was "the hit of the town".  They saw me dancing in the window to Michael's "Man in the Mirror".  Then we all went home and hung out in the basement.  I played a game with one of Meg's friends.

I also went out to eat at Sam and Louie's pizzeria.  The food was spectacular.  I didn't think the place was as bad as other people think.  Later we went to the Claussen's to watch Husker football.  The chips were deliciously spicy, and their meatballs were wonderful.  Meg and I went to the dentist, and I didn't have any cavities.  Before I left, I had x-rays of my teeth taken and I brought home an Ekans Pokemon trading card.
